As We Return: A Message from our Founder

When I became a Doctor of Physical Therapy I took an oath. The oath was recited in front of all my colleagues, family and friends upon graduation and at my Doctorate pinning ceremony. I want to share some of those words I proudly spoke in solidarity with my peers.

  • I will practice physical therapy with compassion for the vulnerabilities in each of my patients and will work to preserve their dignity and promote their health and welfare.

  • I will value the lives of my patients as I value my own life, through my concern for their significance and with respect for them and the confidential nature of our relationship.

  • I will work toward the improvement of the quality of life for all of my patients.

  • I will honor the choices that my patients make with respect to their wishes and needs.

  • I will do no harm to another human.

As we nurture patients back to better health PHLEX Clinicians live and breathe these words each and every day.

During this unprecedented time,  we are all vulnerable to the unknown and I believe it is more important than ever that you feel secure in knowing our commitment to your health goes way beyond a sprained ankle. We treat you the way we would treat a family member, and so our priority during our return to the office is to take all measures to protect the safety of the PHLEX community.

As of June 3, 2021 we have begun seeing patients by appointment only at our Midtown East location. As we begin our transition to our "new normal," we'd like to update you on the protocols we have put into place, in accordance with CDC, APTA , and government guidelines, to keep you safe and healthy during your visits to our office.

  • We are decreasing the amount of staff and patients that will be in our space at any given time.

  • We have expanded our cleaning services, and have contracted with a  company that is providing us with specialty COVID-19 sanitization services.

  • We have eliminated equipment that would be difficult to clean between each use.

  • We have eliminated our waiting area.

  • All scheduling and billing will be handled virtually.

  • High-traffic touch points such as door handles, light switches, sink faucets, computers, and smartphones are regularly wiped down.

  • Our rehab equipment is disinfected after every use between patients.

  • We have diversified our patient care by providing virtual Telehealth sessions.

As a member of our PHLEX community, we are asking you to help us protect you and others by adhering to the following new policies we have implemented:

  • Upon Entry:

    • All clients will be asked to provide documentation of vaccination upon initial visit.

    • Every person must wash their hands.

    • Every person must wear a mask upon entry and when moving through the space (from the bathrooms and through the halls).

  • Additional Mask Guidelines:

    • If you are a vaccinated client, you are permitted to remove your mask during your session. If there are other clients in the same space wearing a mask, we ask that you do also. If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a mask at all times.

  • Please bring a change of clothes and shoes with you.

  • Please remove your shoes before entering PHLEX.

  • As always, please stay home if you are not feeling well.

  • Above all, please treat others as you would wish to be treated.

We are regularly adapting our operations according to the safeguards outlined by local and federal directives as best practice. It is our social duty and obligation to abide by the highest levels of safety standards. I do not know what the world will look like next month, but I do know that PHLEX will continue to be a safe space for you to continue on your wellness journey.

Yours in good health,
